Seafood is not only delicious, but it is very beneficial on the keto diet. Fatty fish like salmon and sardines are high in beneficial EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids, which may lower insulin levels and increase insulin sensitivity. However, research is recommended before “diving in” because low quality seafood may contain high levels of mercury and certain shellfish (clams, mussels and squid to name a few) actually contain some carbohydrates that you might not know about.
