If you are a beginner on the keto diet, one of the most important things you will learn to do is how to read nutrition labels. For the first several weeks on keto, before you put anything into your mouth, you should always read the label first.
Read the ingredients
The first thing you should do is read the ingredients list. The first ingredient in the list represents ingredients with the highest quantity, and so on. Be sure that the ingredients are keto friendly, and watch out for products that contain sugar, flour, wheat and starch. These can some in a variety of different names (for example, dextrose is a carbohydrate).
Check the carb content
Your next task is to calculate the carb content, which many people call “net carbs” by taking the total carbs and subtracting fiber and sugar alcohols. You will be left with the remaining carb count to get your net carbs.
